Vasco Duarte Ribeiro. A lover of life, nature, literature and the arts.

The talent of the fine pencil strokes of one of his uncles and the first glimpse into all forms of artistic expression would decide, early on, not only his work but also his way of life.

Born in Lisbon. At the age of five, he wrote and illustrated his first poems. What follows are some short stories and illustration drawings of the characters.

Award winner in several drawing and painting competitions, during high school he is offered a room for his studio. There, he draws, writes and paints.

He occasionally exhibits in academic circles and does illustrations for newspapers and magazines, namely caricature and cartoons.

Persecuted for opposing the old regime, he left early the country to live abroad.

Graduate in Economics, Law and Psychology, he has dedicated himself, alongside his professional life, to the interdisciplinary study of philosophical, political, social, cultural and artistic expression.

From the end of the century onwards, alongside his activity as professor, he devoted more time to art and the production of literary and historical essays.

The author himself defines the foundation of his work: "it is in art, in the true expression of the nature of things and people, that the full exercise of freedom resides. Without styles or doctrine. Just that."
